A 6.5 inches ride height advantage over XC90, and an impressive maximum ground clearance of 9.2 inches (when equipped with 18-inch wheels) allows the new 2010 Volvo XC90 to move to light offroad and stand up to the demands of suburban road conditions. To prevent perhaps the most dangerous mishap common to SUVs, Volvo now includes Roll Stability Control (RSC) that activates the DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) to help prevent rollovers.
Just in case, the roof of the Volvo XC90 is composed of Boron steel, which Volvo notes is four times stronger than conventional steel. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and Dynamic Stability with Traction Control are standard features.

Powertrains and Performance:
The standard model of the XC90 uses a 3.2 liter Inline-6 Engine that provides 235 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, and it is mated to a 6-speed Automatic Transmission with Geartronic. The V8 engine has 311 HP and 325 lb-ft of torque, and is also mated to a 6-speed Automatic Transmission with Geartronic.
The new 2010 Volvo XC90′s maximum tow rating is 5,000 pounds for both engines.
